FORM: MODAL WITH 'BE ABLE TO'
Se usa para expresar habilidad, posibilidad o capacidad futura combinando verbos modales (might, could, should, would) con 'be able to' + infinitivo.
Oraciones principales
(op). After finishing school, you might be able to hang out with your friends.
Después de terminar la escuela, podrías ser capaz de salir con tus amigos.
Ejemplos
(1). If we could meet in Switzerland, we should be able to finish the project on the 20th June.
Si pudiéramos reunirnos en Suiza, deberíamos poder terminar el proyecto el 20 de junio.
(2). I'd be able to take walks without even worrying about inhaling polluted air.
Podría dar paseos sin siquiera preocuparme por inhalar aire contaminado.
(3). With more practice, you could be able to speak English fluently.
Con más práctica, podrías ser capaz de hablar inglés con fluidez.

Cuándo usar esta estructura

Habilidad futura condicionada: Cuando queremos expresar que algo será posible hacer bajo ciertas condiciones.

Diferencias con el español
En español, generalmente usamos:
- Poder en condicional: “podrías hacer”
- Ser capaz de: “serías capaz de hacer”
- Tener la posibilidad de: “tendrías la posibilidad de hacer”
Mientras que en inglés, la combinación de modal + ‘be able to’ añade matices específicos de modalidad que no siempre tienen equivalente directo.

Esta estructura es apropiada para nivel intermedio porque combina conocimientos previos (modales y ‘be able to’) en construcciones más complejas.
