USE: 'THAT', ALREADY MENTIONED
Se usa 'that' como pronombre para referirse a algo que ya se mencionó anteriormente en la conversación o contexto.
Oraciones principales
(op). You know that blue is my favourite colour, so we are going to use that.
Sabes que el azul es mi color favorito, así que vamos a usar eso.

(1). It has got a camera, and I like that.
Tiene una cámara, y eso me gusta.
(2). They look really nice on me, that's why I bought them.

Uso del pronombre demostrativo ‘that’
Función principal
‘That’ funciona como pronombre demostrativo cuando reemplaza o se refiere a algo que ya se mencionó en la conversación. Es equivalente a ‘eso’ o ‘esa/eso’ en español.
Estructura
- That + verbo: That is interesting (Eso es interesante)
- Verbo + that: I like that (Me gusta eso)
- That’s why: That’s why I came (Por eso vine)
Diferencias con el español
En español, podemos omitir el pronombre demostrativo en muchos casos, pero en inglés ‘that’ es obligatorio:
- Inglés: I like that ✓
- Español: Me gusta eso / Me gusta ✓
Contextos de uso
- Referencia a ideas completas: He failed the exam, and that surprised everyone
- Referencia a objetos mencionados: I bought a new phone. That was expensive
- Referencia temporal: Come after 6 PM, I’ll be free after that
- En expresiones: That’s why, That’s because, That’s good
